Md. Shamsul Islam retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of Bangladesh Army in 2009. He is an honor graduate of US Army Field Artillery School, Oklahoma and is a graduate from Defense Services Command and Staff College, Bangladesh. He later went on to attend his second staff course in Defense Services Staff College at Wellington, Tamil Nadu, India, graduating with distinction. Colonel Shams did his masters from National University, Bangladesh and Madras University, India. He also obtained his MBA from Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University with 38 regular MBA Batch. During his long checkered career, Shams held important command and staff assignments, notable amongst which were Commanding Officer of two field artillery regiments, Platoon commander in Bangladesh Military Academy, Brigade Major of a Composite Brigade and Directing Staff of Defense Services Command and Staff College. On his retirement from the Army, Colonel Shams joined Meena Bazar, the largest superstore chain in Bangladesh, as Head of Supply Chain, a position he held for one year till he joined Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh as its Chief Operating Officer. After three years of corporate service, Colonel Shams started his career as a budding entrepreneur and established three upstart business ventures namely, Green Peak Resort, Green Peak Holdings Limited and Integrated Business Initiative Ltd. as Managing Director. He is also a former Secretary General of Retired Armed Forces Officers’ Welfare Association (RAOWA). Colonel Shams traveled widely across the continents of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. His particular passion is golfing and pursues the game with keenness.
